A unique nature preserve is waiting for you
Since 1938 the region around the dam has been under conversation. But why? What makes this landscape so special? How did the dam become the way it is today? At 14 interactive stations you will get to know this and much more. The 10 kilometres long round trip will lead you through moor and heath, over dunes and along entwined bays.
Hiking parking places are located at the B 72 exits: Exit Thülsfelder Talsperre North, Centre and South.

Molbergen – Moor educational path Molberger Dose
On a 3 kilometre round trip along the moor educational path, we would like to introduce to you the moor habitat.
The moor educational path is located within the more than 600 hectare nature preserve "Molberger Dose"; it is a high moor landscape in its natural environment.

Nature habitat forest
Molbergen-Dwergte – Forest educational and adventure path Dwergter Sand
We want to introduce to you this habitat with its special attraction on an approx. 3.5 km round trip using 17 information boards with examples. The "wood didacticum" contains various movable wood types and, together with the quiz boards, offers additional perception and experience options on the subject of forests.
Ahlhorn fish ponds
The Ahlhorn fish ponds are part of the pond management of the state of Lower Saxony. The first ponds were created in 1906. Over the years, a 180 ha pond area developed mainly from hand, 130 ha of which are still used today. The ponds are located in a particularly attractive mixed forest. They are biotopes for many rare animals and plants.

Ancient tree path
The "Ancient tree path" is a 40 ha forest area with old, gnarled oak and beech trees. The trees get their characteristic shape from grazing sheep and pigs.
